I don't think you are going to make much more than that unless you live somewhere like California, DC, or New York.
I think 55k is honestly on the high end of the salary range for a vet tech, unfortunately. You could consider working towards a promotion in a leadership role. Directors make significantly more than 55k
What city do you live in? The highest salary I've seen is $75k
If you move to Wellington, FL or Ocala for winter season you can make that in a season. It's competitive and you need to know the culture and how to brand yourself.
