12.5 straight weeks on a pitch. Zero days off and all 14-20 hour days w/ little sleep. It was the f’ing worst.
And you think they even gave us standard of living increases after we won the pitch?
Of course not. But you can bet leadership got bonuses.
Hooray Omnicon.
Sooo omnicom
I once worked a 110-hour week. It was awful. Most of my summer that year was 60 to 80-hour weeks, we were onboarding an enormous piece of business and I was leading it. Unsustainable.
I lost 20 pounds from the stress and lack of sleep. Don’t know how I survived, honestly!
I did basically the same, 107 hours is my longest week - 70-90 hour weeks for months straight without weekends.
But I gained 30 pounds from sitting at a desk and eating without movement
Ou people are nuts. Don’t you have boundaries?
Once, I worked 64 days in a row, which was obviously against the law. It was not like 15h-days, just regular days, but non stop.
We had a series of back-to-back shoots across several European countries, with talents only available on weekends. On top of that, I was juggling the usual day-to-day and some pitches. I was much younger then, so I managed to keep up physically. But mentally, I realized afterwards that I wasn’t really doing anything good during the last 3 weeks. Looking back, there were some projects that were rushed and really poorly executed. It was a good lesson for me. Never to accept that kind of crazy schedule again.
The only positive outcome: you don’t have time to spend your own money, so you feel wealthy after that.
I’m approaching two months straight and I don’t see a point in anything anymore
Be careful. Working too much can take you to a dark place. It’s not worth risking your mental health. Get a doctors note if you have too.
Definitely did a month straight on some launches early on, and vividly remember about 10+ years ago uploading materials to Veeva on Christmas morning
45 days in a row. Classic problem of continuous Monday client meetings with internal reviews on Friday afternoons.
Reading these comments makes me feel like my 21 consecutive days was no big deal. Yeesh.
Experiential had me working for a month straight for a big event but I was out and about and not tied to a desk. I was also in my early 20s and had no relationship and was friends with coworkers so I had the time of my life. Took a couple days off then straight back into a new event. Looking back now in my late 30s, that was fun but I ain't going back lol
About three weeks or so, usually because of big shoots with lots of pre pro. Shoots are exciting that usually involve a fun trip so it helps take the sting out of the grueling work getting there.
About 40 days
3 weeks. In retail.
Never once like this in advertising. What’s going on?
you guys take a day off? plebs.
I’ve done the equivalent of 17 months in 12. Didn’t count the consecutive days, but it doesn’t look either way.
And yes I burnt out nastily.
50 15h days straight. Dreaded waking up every morning and physically got sick. Set your boundaries and maintain them. Nothing is worth putting your health on the line.
Pro
Probably 2 weeks. Just kept thinking about that comp time
