What's the mortality rate in your area?

In Louisiana the overall mortality rate is 976.7/100,000 (as of 2021). That compares to the U.S. rate of 793.7. The average life expectancy in the Bayou State is about four years lower than the national average. A much sadder disparity is infant mortality, with Louisiana at 7.2 per 1000 births compared to the U.S. rate of 1.9/1000 births. The state has one of the highest levels of pre-term births in the nation, which contributes to that. We also have one of the highest homicide rates. Add smoking, drinking, drugs and Southern fried everything (we'd deep fat fry water if we could), and the figures aren't as surprising as you thought.

For all groups? In Utah the age-adjusted rate is 48.8 across the state but I'm in Salt Lake City and it's 50.6 here. Our infant mortality rate is better than the national average though

I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm. Any recommendations?

I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
