135->95->170->195
The drop happened at the same first firm due to me not hitting hours, so I lateraled for a nice jump and have been slowly increasing comp there the past few years ❤️

At my first job out of law school in 2008 I made $42,500 - and that was in Boston! I work for myself now earning much more than that lol.

Hi there fellow dirt crawlers! I started at 35k in 2012. I couldn’t believe how low the offer was but I was struggling to just find anything at all.

105–> 170k , 5 years in , doing only WC defense

$370 vs. $140

Started off 85k, now 250k, 6YOE

$10/hr at a small immigration firm my first year. Currently around $115k in consumer collections after 13 years.

42k first year prosecutor… 235k 8 years out

First year 90k…..4th year 182k

1st year 60k / 9th 300k

I made that when starting in the early 2000s in big law in a secondary market. No shade, just info. Different models.

150k as a first year doing commercial litigation. I love employment law so I switched and am now a third year making 143k. The professional fulfillment is worth the decrease.

1st year $50k private practice

11th year $190k also private practice

I'm $115000 okay 👍

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.
