Soft layoffs at ProServe today ?
Hey Fishes,
Require urgent suggestions
I will be joining Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) and I am worried about job security considering the layoffs that will be happening in Oracle as per below link:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.crn.com/news/cloud/oracle-considered-1b-in-cuts-thousands-of-layoffs-report&ved=2ahUKEwjv0Lyb3-34AhX29zgGHZGqBBYQ0PADKAB6BAgEEAE&usg=AOvVaw0c9Bz3n-mb4BhVdPKvIXnE
Require suggestions on whether it would be a wise call to move to OFSS now.

How much time is realistic? 2 weeks?
Pro
2 weeks to a month should be the standard notice period.

Lay off also comes with some headsup though
Some do come unannounced. I worked for a company for 4 years. During Covid, they called a few of us at the end of the day and told us we were being laid off that day. Karma insured that their stock never rebounded. They are barely hanging on.
Giving notice is just the norm. If you are in a particularly toxic situation and already have a job lined up, I think an exception could be made. It is unfair that you could face a layoff at any given time. I do appreciate the WARN Act at least giving some people an advanced notice.

Thank you for this input, it does feel unfair that employees are expected to give notice while companies can lay people off instantly. In some toxic situations, protecting myself comes first, at least laws like the WARN act give some cushion, but the system still feels unbalanced to me.
