When applying for jobs and see “unlimited PTO”, is that a red or green flag for you? My husband has unlimited PTO and it’s a hassle to take off, but I’d love to know if this is a common experience or not.

Red flag, but I would consider other factors. It might be best to self-limit to 20 days per year or whatever the industry standard is.

Great tip!

We have unlimited PTO at TIAA and never had an issue taking whatever I need to. I’m sure there are some customer facing roles that are more limited but for most it’s easy. I probably average 30ish days gave or take heavier travel years

That’s great! I’m glad it works like it should for you!

I work at Empower and we have unlimited PTO and I use it and love it! It actually saves the employer on the backend where they dont have to out if you leave. But its an awesome perk just use it wisely and make sure you are in good standing with your manager.

like

That’s great! How much PTO do you think you take in a year?

Definitely a red flag! I typically pass on companies with unlimited/flex PTO policy.

Depends on the company. Some are flexible and some are not.

One of my best friends growing up just passed away. We lost contact with each other a year or two after graduating high school and I recently came to learn he was was battling cancer the past 5 years and ultimately succumbed to the illness. He hid it well from everyone and led a very private life during it all. To make matters worse, he had just turned 25. Seeing pictures of the condition he was in towards the end of his fight broke my heart. I wish I had known so I could’ve been there for him.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

Hey all! I have an interview with

Is it the case here?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
