What's the work hours for risk assurance

Key reports testing can be kind of hard to get your head around. ITGCs are easy and if you're proficient at lookups it will be pretty simple. Rest is learning your managers documentation style and conforming to that. Shit ton of walkthroughs and other documentation.

like

IT audit kinda blows though

like

The work is boring as fuck

like

If it's IT audit, and it probably will be, just play the "I don't have an IT background but I'm doing my best! 🙃" card and no one will give you shit as long as you try.

Oct through feb typically. September is kind of the ramp up to busy season

like

I don't think so. But some struggle. I didn't have much trouble getting a 1 the first year but from what I understand that's a bit of an anomaly

like

Be prepared to document controls that no one actually understands too... That was my biggest beef with one of my engagements last year. We "tested" controls built into some shittily documented spaghetti code written by Accenture that no one understood and had to take the clients word on everything the code did. Would not want to be the partner on that pcaob review.....

like

You might be fucked you might not. Very client dependent. Just bring some lube and let it happen bro that's the best advice I can give.

On the bright side the hours should be better than being on a core client.

like

First year- 55 ish hours busy season 40 or less otherwise

After first year- 60+ busy season 40 to 50 otherwise

like

Is it tough tho?

like

Lmao I'm on it for 5 months

like

Yeah it's insane how much it varies by client/engagement.

like

I'm in RA. It's definitely more manageable than core audit. "It's a marathon not a sprint" since our busy season is way longer but less brutal daily/weekly hours. Been here two years and only have had to work 1 weekend. Good luck!!

like

And there busy season starts in oct and ends when?

Why

Yeah because I have no idea what to expect from this engagement

Bro your not making it any better my life is already flipping upside down because of this

Eh it's just one engagement how bad could it be lol (I understand that does not help)

Yeah seriously I'm originally from core

First year is hard only cause you have no idea what you're doing. That's where the doing my best comes in. Second year is easier cause you actually kinda get since you're only doing five months is say just have a positive attitude and open mind. Also Google is your best friend
