Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

Welcome to recruiting in 2025. But, while I understand how frustrating this is, you really can't blame candidates for ghosting you when so many hiring managers ghost their candidates. It goes both ways

same here
It’s frustrating, but honestly, it’s a two-way street. Candidates have watched companies ghost them for years, after multiple interviews, with nothing but a generic rejection email or total silence. It’s not right on either side, but it’s definitely a reflection of the broader hiring culture. If organizations want professionalism from candidates, it needs to start with how they treat applicants too.
Over 10 hours of interviewing?! Yeah I’m out too ✌️
Not a chance. Even the most technical roles I manage for director level and VP levels are no more than 4 hours total. Sometimes 5 but more rare
Who taught these Gen Z kids that ghosting people is acceptable ? - The recruiters that they have been facing. (Coming from a millennial)
Honestly, I commend gen z in many ways for bucking the system. The status quo has got to change
The recruiters, talent acquisition teams, and companies as a whole who have done the same thing to countless other candidates. It’s not a good excuse, but bad behavior begets bad behavior.
It's funny; I've been on both sides of the hiring process, and each side has this exact complaint. Feeling ghosted, feeling like their time was not respected, feeling ignored or disregarded. Now that I'm on the hiring side, I definitely see it, but I also felt it on the employee side. I think we could all stand to be a bit more respectful of each other and our time.
For every 1 candidate rejection there are 100 recruiters ghosting. Quote me

it suuuucks to be ghosted by a recruiter
No way did you spend 10 hours interviewing them, and if you did, that may be why they've disappeared! It's not polite for either side to ghost the interviewer or the candidate, but times have changed it seems!
I can only think of one situation where this might happen and it still seems really unnecessary.
Unfortunately we as the Job Seekers that we are... We don't have any sense of power through the process. Someone else decides if they will speak with us, if we will be a fit, if our expertise is enough, if we are asking for too much, etc... and finally someone else decides if we get an offer and how much that would be.
Honestly, I get the replies saying recruiters ghosting candidates makes it fair game. I just happen to disagree with that logic.
Although this time he likely got another offer, there is no guarantee that will happen next time. It doesn't take much to simply say that they got another offer that they think they are a better fit for and they will accept that one. Apologize and move on... We are all humans after all.
Their actions just seem so unnecessary.
At this point, I would love to hear that people want to interview me. It's so dead silent... With so much competition.

i hope those 10 hours weren't in person interviews. Sorry to hear though, it sucks especially after the amount of effort you put in.
