I would take an absolutely incredible pay cut for the ability to work from home. I like my job, but I've been applying for remote positions like crazy because I need to help my aging parents during the day and being out of the house for 10+ hours a day just isn't working for me right now. I would probably take a 25% pay cut just for the flexibility of working from home.
It depends on how significant of a paycut we're talking. If it's $120k vs. $140k, I'll go remote. If it's $120k vs $175k, I'll suck it up and head to the office five times a week.
Haven't really had this issue yet. I've only filtered remote and hybrid jobs. Remote is always preferred as it easier to work another job and have the same deliverables....it's the difference from making 5000 per month to 16000. For example. A hybrid role in Miami paying 160000 is difficult to keep my current job because meetings, but the remote in Idaho for 130000 gives me that dual salary with my own equipment setup.....that kind of financial freedom allows me to live anywhere in the states, bonus if both jobs allows me to be a digital nomad(my current job does)
Right now we have to go in 2 days a week and there’s no time limit of how long we have to get in or stay, so it’s not too bad. Higher pay and more options for mobility are tied to office locations so I’m ok sucking it up to have those benefits.
I agree with you. People want the flexibility and to feel like they have better work life balance. I don't understand why companies are so unwilling to give us that.
I’m honestly not sure what the $ difference between the two normally is. If it’s like 20k, maybe worth it. But otherwise the time savings if a of remote are so meaningful to me I’d prefer that above all else
