Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
I’m interested in furthering my career and I’m considering studying for the PHR or SHRM-CP exam. For those of you who are certified, do you have any advice and recommendations on which one you think might be better?
Should an employment lawyer consider getting a PHR/SPHR certificate? Is it worthwhile? A lot of in house opportunities seem to be looking for them
Anyone actually keep their PHR active? I got my cert in 2013 and have done nothing since.
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
Does anyone working in M&A Post Merger Integration, OCM, or Transaction Support have any thoughts on PHR (Professional Human Resources) certification? Worth pursuing?
Is it worth it to get a professional certification like SHRM/PHR? Not many of my colleagues have one and it’s not a requirement for my role, but I’m curious if it’s worth it in the long run
Is the SPHR or PHR license necessary to pivot into human capital? I have a MBA from a Top 15 school. Any thoughts?
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
PHR or SHRM? I am looking to get more certifications related to HR vs recruiting, but I am unsure on which one is "better" or will help me grow into more of a strategic HR role. Help!!!
Any thoughts on ESPPs? I finished a final round with a startup who was acquired by a well known corporate company in late 2020. The startup used to offer stock but now employees can only buy stock through the parent’s ESPP at a 15% decrease of market rate (currently $300/share). Base would be $140K, 10% bonus. Do you think negotiating for more base because there’s no stock in TC would be a good idea? And any experience with ESPPs?
Anyone renegotiate their base when interviewing? If so, but what percentage did you gain? How did you frame the conversation?
Back to back calls every day, unrelenting context switching at 30 minute intervals. At any given moment my only goal is to just make it through my next meeting / client call / orals. That's it. I'm literally existing in pure survival mode day after day. Anyone else in this special kind of Hell? Anyone successfully pull themselves out?
An intern who sits near me keeps loudly burping....... really wanna tell her to stop. Do I do it?
Any insight on Captech? Looking for manager level salary, benefits, culture, etc. Thanks.
Has anyone let an assistant go before? Been working with one for several years and we're close, but recently their work ethic has gone downhill.
I filed prevailing wages in June this year under H1b. When would I expect to receive response from DOL?
Is now a risky time to lateral? I got an offer at a midsize firm- but given the covid measures (salary cuts, layoffs) taken by law firms- am worried about lateraling only to be let go in the near future due to covid taking a turn for the worse.
Any recommendation of book to crack a case study? MBA course case study and real life firms case study?
Deloitte is work from home flexible for the foreseeable future. 30-50 percent colocating. What are other firms doing?
How valuable is having a B4 name on the resume? Currently at a boutique and have the option to join B4 (not KPMG) or industry. Industry would pay more for the first couple years. Wondering if B4 would be the better option for the long run
Is 4 times base salary in monthly collections a decent ratio? (i.e. $10k/m base salary and $40k billed and collected from client)
SOX - I’m senior associate and applying for accounting manager role that talks about being involved with SOX requirements. Is this difficult or is this easy to learn?
Is it normal for PwC to downgrade you from a sr position you applied on their job portal to a experienced associate? I was told I will be fast tracked and the offer they gave me is on par with the base salary of a SA. Seems like I can’t negotiate the position.
Guys what is the big step up from Associate to VP? Currently at a boutique but interviewing for a relatively big and well known bank so I am a bit clueless on how a VP would operate in a much bigger environment than mine.
I’m applying for roles as a software development manager in NYC and both tech and finance companies. I have 15 years experience in tech. Not from the US and only moved here last year. Does anyone know the ballpark salary range?
To the Big 3 and Big 4 consultants who have worked in consulting 2-3 years after undergrad: If you were to exit into an 9-6 industry role, what kind of base salary would you need to consider leaving?
