I have applied to several positions up Google. I have not heard anything back at all. No matter if I customize my résumé to the job description I still don’t hear anything back. I am wondering as to why Google ghost people instead of just telling them that they didn’t get the job? Do people on Google believe it is appropriate for the recruiters just a ghost people especially if they feel they don’t match the job?

Ya. All depends on paternity status and how formalized it is. I would also look at who else/what other options there would be for the project to remain successful without travel at that time.
For this very reason I went on paternity the day my kid was born and I was out for almost 6 months.
I knew partner and clients won’t care if I’m still working and the whole work expectation is unpredictable, you can never be too sure.
