I keep mine very vague. My job is my job and I'm not really sure what the point of all of these goals are, when my goal is to keep my job for as long as possible.

That’s my thought exactly! I’m just filling this out so I can say I did… and say I did all my “goals”
My main goal is to collect the checks

I try to make my goals essentially un fail able
Our business goals are generally cascaded to us, but with personal goals we have more flexibility. I do keep it somewhat general because it’s hard to know specifics when the work stream hasn’t necessarily begun yet. Fortunately we can revise quarterly based on shifts in priorities

Yeah for the past 5 years the “cascaded” goals had to be entered at the mid year because the higher ups didn’t do their goal setting
I’m in that same boat my specific tasks change pretty often. But I just put vague nonsense now

Super vague. That way I have space to changes things up if I want to
I make two sets now. The first, is vague and "official"; the second, is what I actually want to do and work towards, and doesn't require my supervisor to supervise on. If I finish one of my goals, it can still be applied as things I went above and beyond for; or an aspect of continuous improvement. The second is also written in a way that makes sense to me and not whatever mumbo jumbo my organization wants.
