Clicking around on LinkedIn and stalking a former employee sounds like a GREAT way to spend a weekend
Wow guess I struck the nerves of some sad little fish. My agency is doing well. So we are hiring. So yes on this Sunday before I interview some candidates this week, I’m on LinkedIn and doing the SCARY STALKING THING so I’m familiar with their work history before I meet them. And I’m curious when we have mutual connections like said former writer. And because I’m curious I clicked.
It’s riveting stuff. 😂😂😘😘
Also sounds like pretty much everyone I know. But again, I’m just weird. You got me. Sick burn. I’m hurt.
CD OP why do you care? Is your own life that empty? Honestly, what’s it got to do with you?
I’m not sure why anyone would list why they’re not at a former job anymore on LinkedIn. Just write the end date. And no one who gets fired is going to say they got fired. Laid off is the common description even for people who got fired.
As for the title promo, well yeah, that’s a different story
No one likes you
b) claims they were “laid off.
Don’t be this person ladies and gents. Just don’t.
Posts like this and the ensuing comments are so revealing. Fishbowl is divided into two camps: those who champion making it until they make it and those who see no problem with stealing the work of others, giving themselves promotions and general shady behavior that brings down the integrity of the entire industry.
The gravitas that some people associate with making soap commercials astounds me. Nothing wrong with faking your way through a fake industry.
My thoughts exactly CD3. Weird post.
Don’t knock the hustle
Maybe you’re worried the person may prove you wrong about letting them go. No other reason to give a flying f^€k
Exactly what I was thinking ACD4. Kinda appalled at the comments on this one. Or at least confused.
This is super unfair.
I was once let go because an ECD who I barely worked with “didn’t like me.” My CDs who I worked with regularly all liked me. I had spent two years as a junior at that place and produced plenty of work.
I decided to market myself as a mid-level writer to freelance, and obviously didn’t broadcast I was fired. So, basically I did what the person you describe did.
In what way is that wrong? Just because one ECD had it out for me, my career needs to get detailed? Please. I’ve had over a year of work since then at multiple agencies, and people from CDs to CCOs have enjoyed my work and company. I’m sure I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to engage in those interactions if I’d described myself as a “junior fired for poor performance,” which seems to be what you’re pushing for.
People can get fired for all sorts of reasons. Please get some perspective
Some people are just too important in this world to admit reality.
I don’t understand why anyone lies on Linked in about their most recent situation. In this industry there is always a reference check and it will be weird if you don’t provide a reference from the very last agency you were at. So I’m not sure how anyone could maintain any such lie. Unless you go full-dishonesty and provide a fake reference or something.
Haters gonna hate.
The reality is you have a better shot at getting a job with a less senior title.
@SVP1 good point, you’re right. The higher title just makes the less qualified candidate appear potentially overqualified for some roles. Reality will catch up with them, OP.
Hopefully anywhere he/she applies calls for a reference. Including freelance.
Also back to the original post, also dont be like cd op
