I work about 45 hours a week on average, 50 on a bad week.
Martin is also pretty 9-5 - but it’s in Richmond
Wouldn’t say it’s 9-5 for creatives. Especially in covid times. But the balance is still pretty good, and from what I hear, it’s better than many NY shops. There are heavy weeks and there are extremely light weeks (as in most places). On average I work 45-50hr weeks.
It may feel like more balanced because the quality of living in Richmond is way higher. The commutes are insanely short and everything is pretty affordable. I’d also say that the people working at martin are, for the most part, very understanding and friendly, which makes the work seem a bit easier.

You wont find that lifestyle unless you go in-house sadly.
That being said, everyone I know who has worked at Goodby has said the hours aren’t too insane. So they might be a place to look into.
My experience with balance has been great. Cant remember the last time I worked a weekend or had to kill myself with a bunch of late nights. Honestly been years. It just comes down to how well you can manage time and set boundaries
Heard Duncan Channon in SF were good about their hours
True. A really good culture that tries to support work life balance n
Saatchi LA is pretty chill, but the work isn’t all that creative. (Though that is more a reflection of the client than the quality of the creatives.)
I’d prefer to solve difficult problems with non-vanilla creative, honestly.
Second on Saatchi (LA or Dallas). Only place I’ve been that had a proper work life balance.
West coast agencies are generally more relaxed than east coast agencies, but yea it’s still gonna be a grind especially now with agencies actively pitching for new businesses.
Huge ny used to have 40 hour cap - not sure if it’s still true?

It’s PR, but our work/life balance is pretty solid. Some weekends, some late nights, but overall it’s a pretty respectful agency.
