I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I selected new tax regime in the company 'xyz' portal for April 2021-March 2022. I left this company in jan 2022 and tax of 16k got deducted from F&F settlement.

I have investment in EPF and submitted the rent receipts to the company for tax exception for HRA. But in F&F, based on new regime tax deducted.

Feel like I missed the boat years back to get into Director of Product role. Back in the day there was only Senior in between a Director role, now there’s Lead and Group levels, so much hierarchy now.

I have an offer to join a startup as an APM. The only downside is that the engineering team is located offshore in India. I’m concerned about the resulting impact because of 1) the potential late night calls 2) the learning opportunities missed by not working with a US engineering team (communication tactics, translatable skills) 3) potential exit opps into FAANG pm roles due to not having experience with an onshore eng team. Would any one be able to speak to this from experience or share advice
