I would tell them that although they're legally required to take the side of the district, at the end of the day we're working with teachers and students all day long every day and it's in our best interest to look out for them.
Prior principal: stop handing out consequences to all staff because you don’t want to confront the 2-3 that are abusing the system.
Principal: Please stop letting your secretary (administrative assistant...passed high school and a typing test, got the job because mom is a secretary too) make major decisions for the school and major decisions about which teachers can do what. It's YOUR job that you got because of YOUR education and experience. Step up or leave.
I would say support us. Fight for us when it's time to discuss the budget. Don't throw us under the bus when something goes wrong.
Principal: Act like one! Make decisions BEFORE the pot boils over! When you finally do make a decision, stick to it! Students and parents will come and go, a pissed off teacher is forever! And they may just leave.
It’s my second year in a building but my 35th year teaching, I’ve never before had to beg my principal to do her job. 🤦🏻♀️
Give us more autonomy in the classroom. We're the ones who are on the front lines every day, and we know what works best for our students.
