I want to make the transition to the firm’s Litigation department because I want to practice international arbitration. I got recruited for a analytical role with Ford, it’s a contract to hire position with great benefits, double my salary currently and close to home. The contract is for 6 months then can be hired in full time. Should I take the position or no? What do I have to lose?

Looking at full-time and application asks for expected salary and then expected total compensation as a number. How should I figure out the second? Health insurance, bonuses, life insurance, equity, PTO? I studied art, not math.

I'm reading this book on boundaries. In the work section it says I should tell my boss that I can't work after 5 PM. Knowing that advertising work commonly goes past 5 PM...would my job be in danger if I said that?
There's not really a rule book that says I must work until the work is done even though it's an unsaid expectation. Thoughts?
