Layoff going on in Synechron ?
Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

1. Document everything
2. Speak to hr about what is going on. Maybe they can diffuse.
3. Download all your files. Literally everything you’ve worked on.
4. Burrow in and work hard
5. Whatever happened, consider apologizing. Even if it wasn’t your fault. That might buy you some time.
6. Update that portfolio and gtfo. Life is too short to work with retaliatory assholes
HR will likely not help, but good to have documentation that you met with them
Definitely download all your files NOW.
IF you do get laid off, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. I REPEAT, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. They’ll give you lots of paperwork and say you have to sign it, especially if you want your severance. Professionally and politely tell them you never sign anything without talking to your lawyer and that you’ll take the paperwork and get back to them. Call an employment lawyer if you can. They may be able to negotiate better severance. Even if not, make them sweat it out. Tell them you talked to a lawyer, that she/he thinks you were wrongfully terminated and have a case. Send them a list of emails of current higher up employees and clients who may be called in the case and ask if the addresses are all correct. Then say you’d like X amount more (double what they offer at the very least, if not triple or more) to go away quietly.
And yes, update your LinkedIn, resume, etc. asap.
Good luck.
^ none of this is what right to work means. It simply means that unions can’t require non-unionized employees to contribute to the costs of lobbying and bargaining to secure conditions, benefits, etc., that all employees enjoy regardless of union membership (“free riding”). Janus v AFSCME last year essentially made the whole country “right-to-work” by saying unions couldn’t collect these agency fees because they violated employees’ right to free speech, since they were used to lobby for political causes that could run counter to employees’ views or beliefs. It has nothing to do with whether you can be fired at will or need a contract or anything else like that.
Things i’ve seen done -
1. Hide. Can’t find you, can’t fire you.
2. Go out quickly on disability.
3. Take vacation.
4. Or the mature thing.. go to your boss, tell them things arent working and offer to work while you find a new job and a replacement.
Engage the client if you have a close relationship and are being wrongly treated, use it against your management. Threaten labor tribunal if you’re in a developed first world market with tight labor act.
Collect unemployment.
Maximize severance
Lawyer up.
Aren’t most companies “at will”? They can fire you if they don’t like your shoes.
Did you sleep with your boss’s husband/wife?
Actual retaliation? Talk to a lawyer and see what options you have. Document everything, even record conversations (if in a one-party consent state like NY)
If you still have access to the building and you feel this way, the first thing you always do is GET YOUR FILES. If you get fired that door slams shut. I have lived this nightmare myself. Buy two hard drives. Copy your files to each. One lives at home. One stays in your desk. As long as you feel at risk you keep files updated on that drive. When there’s a big discrepancy between the files on the drive at work and the one at home, take the drive home, clone it to the one at your house, take it back and keep saving files. Rinse and repeat.
sometimes life isn't fair, and sometimes we even fuck up. might be ideal to reflect on what led you to this current situation and apologize if appropriate.
as well as download files, get your book together and apply elsewhere.
this is a learning and defining moment in your career. tread carefully.
Doubling down on the “don’t sign anything” advice. They will pressure, perhaps threaten u to sign immediately. But what they want u to sign is for their benefit, not urs. As such it’s a negotiation. U should get something of value for that John Hancock! And they really can’t do anything if u don’t sign, no matter what they say. There’s usually a 45 day deadline for signing such documents. They can’t explode the offer in a day. Stand ur ground.
Bcc or forward emails to your personal account that can back up anything you’re saying about retaliation. Look in your employee handbook on retaliation as a rule. Many companies have language around it not be acceptable. Look for FACTS not feelings. No one, especially HR, gives a shit about your feelings
If you think you’re about to be retaliated against, record EVERY interaction with senior management. Check the laws about audio recording in your state. New York (my state) allows for one party consent. Meaning only one party in a conversation needs to agree to recording. And if you’re involved in the conversation, guess what? You count! Most phones have voice note apps, use that. Try putting the phone in a shirt pocket to get the best audio
Get the jump on your boss, turn the tides.
Everything that is mentioned here ^. But what do you want to happen? Do you want to stay and work it out or do you want to leave? If you want to stay then agree Co-founder’s point #4 makes sense
I don’t want to stay, but I don’t want to be jobless!!
What does your boss think you did?
Retaliation for what?
Be careful with mentioning you’ve spoken to a lawyer early on as a bargaining chip... at holding company agency if you start talking legal they may send everything up to corporate legal who knows better how to call a bluff and eat your lunch.
What is your boss retaliating against? If it’s against an accusation of misconduct, this is illegal.
It’s OP isn’t gonna say what they did. Boss is looking at this thread under anon “senior VP 1 account”. If OP says anything the hammer is gonna really drop.
Or another scenario, nothing happened and OP is getting free advice before whistle blowing.
What were you imagining? I can’t hit the mark if you don’t give me anything to work with!!
Lawyer up now.
