Who works more, ID or Plaintiff’s side?

Both, but different. Pl has to deal with annoying clients and defense needs to deal with adjusters who are usually useless. The barrage of paperwork is pretty even.

ID is a marathon while you’re sprinting, Plaintiffs’ work is a sprint that lasts a marathon…

Haha, I think it’s the same kind of work just presented differently - ID is the daily (six minutely) grind but on the plaintiffs’ side you’re dealing with the same stresses just with more highs and lows. Full disclosure, I’m an ID guy but defend lawyers so have seen enough plaintiffs work to make an at least informed impression. The trick is to find what works for you!

Plaintiffs work? lol

Defense work. I’ve done both. On the Plaintiff’s side, support staff and case managers did a LOT of the less complex work (ie fielding Clint calls, discovery, etc.) Defense firms want to capture as much attorney billable hours as possible so the handling attorneys do a lot more with less support in my experience.

Does anyone or know of any finance professionals that have exited to go work in the music industry or entertainment? I studied Econ/Finance and Music (songwriting) in college so I’ve always been interested to see if there’s a possible transition over to the music industry later on. I really enjoy finance and banking but a part of me wants to know if the music business/clients/development is a possible exit opportunity when I’m older and have put in my time in finance. Thanks!

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

Alternatively, is there something that will cause you not to assign cases to particular firm?
