Who’s smarter: the average Goldman, McKinsey or Google employee?

Sorry this is a little long.

Did a CS / Finance double major. Google is way overhyped in terms of prestige and difficulty to get. There are books and classes literally dedicated to cracking the coding interview, and having seen examples of the questions they ask they are either questions people have prepared or minor variations. Telling someone to take a coding course and then try the interview questions is like telling someone to read a book on finance and do a 3-statement LBO in 1.5 hours.

I think McKinsey is probably most accurate because it is the most clearly dominant / attractive firm in its field and draws from the most diverse set of fields. Google faces competition from startups and other top tech companies - it's no longer the clear #1 choice for someone in tech. The rise of EBs and associated comp differential makes GS no longer the clear attractive choice. McKinsey still stands out as #1 in its field.

In terms of drawing from the most diverse set of fields, even if you assume each firm to be at the top of its cohort, Google is drawing from a pool of people who are tech focused. GS is drawing primarily from a pool of people who are finance focused (I understand this isn't 100% accurate). McKinsey is the closest to major / industry agnostic, which leads to a higher diversity of candidates. You're no longer taking the best from your field, you're taking the best from any field.

I don’t know what dumbass bankers people work with but the people I work with are all pretty intelligent

TLDR but upvoted ^ for effort.

Def not the banker. Prob mckinsey

Hands down Google, if we’re talking about raw intelligence.

If you think you’re smarter than a software engineer at Google, go take a coding class, then look up their interview questions, and tell me who’s smarter...

like

Google employees are amazing coders who also identify as expansive ornate buildings amd and yellow dragonkin.

Not all types of intelligence are found in equal measure at any of these places.

Depends on which part of the org. Developer at Google >> presentations at McK.

I’m going with McKinsey. Google is way too big to have super high intelligence

Yes, speaking for IBD

Disclaimer: I'm actually NOT joking about Google Employees seriously thinking that.

You mean more prestigious legacy and names or sheer brainpower and intelligence? Tough to argue with Google

Is there a special title at your company for a Project Manager that works on product development and not an IT project manager?

An example might include launching a new product from conception through form writing, rating, filing, programming, training, and implementation, or the transfer of products from an acquisitions writing company to ours.

Hi all 🙂👋🏻 Apologies for such a late post. I have an offer of 18 CTC(1L joining bonus) from Larsen & Toubro Infotech & 12.5 fixed from IBM .
My joining in both are in around May last week. Tomorrow my IBM pre onboarding HR will connect with me. Should I ask for a counter offer tomorrow itself?
Or should I ask 2 weeks before joining?
Many told me that companies revise CTC when the joining date is near, else they show less interest. So should I go for it now itself?
Appreciate ur inputs🙂
