How much time you got?
As much as you need😂
I think it’s probably the high billable requirements and low rates/salary. ID is always hiring for those reasons.
Most of the work is monotonous. Big law hours for not so big law pay. And insurance adjusters are usually a pia (but not all). Some of the work is sophisticated but it's rare.
I personally don’t, I do take offense to scammers that have created major insurance problems in Florida like like removal of many coverages and extremely high premiums due to false claims. They use the system and ultimately everyone pays.
Because insurance companies are a bunch of POS? That's why. I am former defense so I can say that.
Nothing like insurance companies/defense deny delaying and serving 0 justice other than billing. Its disgusting.
Goes both ways, for sure. But on plaintiff side now, I can reject the frivolous claims. As a def atty, you almost have 0 choice. U defend on w.e garbage the client is telling u to defend on, even if its complete nonesense.
I can go on and on and on.
It’s the same reason people are garbage collectors. It’s steady and the work will be there until the end of time.
You look down on waste management workers? Weird. We pretty much couldn’t live without them but I guarantee we could live without lawyers.
Because we often defend frivolous claims 😢
It’s high volume work bc the hourly rates are shockingly low - like $125 and hour low. In NY. So the firms only make money if their cheap associates are grinding out hours. The work is not sophisticated and the quality of memos and pleadings that are given the green light to file would not fly in pretty much any other type of practice. Because of this associates get horrible training and practice and don’t have the skills to jump to better firms. Also the reputation is that the associates who wind up in ID are there because it was the only option. ID firms don’t care too much about grades or your law school. These are just facts.
I got lucky and got a job at a boutique white collar criminal defense firm where I worked with mostly people from Harvard and Columbia law and basically learned legal writing and litigating from scratch. The training was intense and from there I went to big law
It is possible to leave ID - just keep looking
It doesn’t matter what others think, How they eat don’t make you Sh*t and Vice Versa.
