Why so negative? Not working the hours expected, but getting the work done (and on time). Double dipping, but for some, much needed due to salaries & current cost of living. Finding opportunities to use one company's resources to the benefit of the other, but signing non-disclosures.

Only you have your reasons, but why is there so much negativity related to overemployment?

Yet no one bats an eye when c suite folk serve on multiple boards or low wage workers work multiple retail jobs to make ends meet.

Also very true! I really don't understand why there are "rules" for some (c suite, as you put it) and not for others.

I think there's just a general attitude that people working remotely are somehow gaming the system. And people working remotely at more than one job really come in for extra suspicion and criticism. Some of it is just pure jealousy, and some of it is just the idea that the system is somehow being abused. Most of the time, of course, no one is being disadvantaged, except perhaps the person with no free time who is actually working the jobs!

Agreed! I think they are grinding harder than the ones that are pointing fingers or feeling the need to judge.

If someone can work two jobs at the same time then I assume they think why are they pay them to work 40 hours and really only working 20 or something like that

like

I think it depends who you ask. I’m 45 and technically a gen x-er but I hate going into an office now. If things were like 2019 again maybe but those days of everyone in the office at the same time don’t exist at my company now.

Hi all, I am trying to DCA bi-weekly into Vanguard ETFs, (VO, VTI etc). It seems like Fidelity does not support auto buying of non-Fidelity ETFs. So I was wondering which of these options you think is best?

1. Open a Vanguard Invest account
2. Look for Fidelity ETFs that are similar to Vanguard ETFs
3. Use smaller brokerages like SoFi l, Robinhood etc.

I really do not want to manage nor be active. My goal is to log-in like once every 6 months.

Thank you all.

Anyone have multiple FT jobs? I'm looking about to land a new primary FT job, as my current job is very very slow, doesn't really have any projects for me, and could end at any time (with a 30 day notice).
Where there any legal issues? (The two companies area in different industries so no competition). How did you manage both? The new company knows I'm still employed, should I quit the first or keep it as long as I can manage both? Any bad vibes or feelings of unprofessionalism? TIA

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

Realistically what are the ODDS of being caught? Is there a legal/HR process with which they could find out??

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?
