100% Strategy&
I don’t know much about Strategy&, but I wouldn’t choose Deloitte. It’s an insanely networked organization, and if you don’t have the network, they won’t promote you to the next level, which is an issue in an up or out model. I think the attrition rate for experienced hires is something nuts like 80%, and I’m not surprised. They don’t make it easy at all.
Also, SM is tough for those who have a network. I can’t imagine starting from scratch. You’re way behind before you even start

Note, SM at S& is a more junior level than SM at D. That said, I'm 97% sure the S& offer will pay more immediately and in the future
S& will pay more and have better exits, but you work longer hours and there is still the Director level between you and Partner. If you are dead set on leaving, I would pick S&.
Like they mentioned, SM is a higher level at D (right before partner) compared to SM at S& (meaning you have to go through 2 promos till partner). But pay is prob better at the latter and I hear it’s brutal being an SM at D.

The difference in pay between the two is probably 50k+ and the gap only gets bigger as time goes on (s& is obviously higher).
I will say — SM at S& is not easy. You get one year to make SM2. Or you’re out.
The other thing — the SM at D is higher than SM at S&. But the path to Partner probably the same
SM is one of the toughest levels in the firm and you need a strong network of partners and junior practitioners to succeed given you are just a level below partner (PPMD). This can make it rather cutthroat. I believe PwC has a level between partner and SM which may also exist in S&.

SM is the toughest level at D! As the other D posted— it is hard. You’ll have much more leeway coming on board but it is going to be a challenge.
Flip side is that I think we generally do better tech strategy work than Strategy&...
