So more often than not, smaller orgs hire a UX/UI designer who does everything from gathering requirements to UX testing. Pick such roles early in your career so you have a chance to understand the end to end spectrum of what designing is and learn. Eventually when you gain experience you can specialise and super specialise.
Also i think it entirely depends on the scale of the organization. The big firms can definitely afford it, but if your previous draw was way too less then they will only match it with their minimum. If your previous drawn was 10 and you ask for 25, you would need to justify as to why you are worth that
Ideally if you are around 6 years experienced and you started your career at around 8-10 lpa and you have made at least two switches (including promotions/hikes) you should be at around 20-25 lpa.
You can ask but I don't know if they will give right now. Would love to hear from someone who switched recently
I switched about a year and a half ago with 5 years of experience and my precious draw was 13.5. I was able to negotiate to 25. Two things mattered, i was up for a promotion in the precious org and just got a recent hike. I used this to boost myself to a higher bracket. Also if they want you and you have competing offers it helps a lot to push your salary higher.
Wow, that's the average pay?
I've been a graphic designer for 3 years and been a product designer in last 2 years. Can understand basic HTML, CSS, React and Flutter. Can understand complex things if explained.
What's the average pay for such a profile? (Cause I'm not even close to the above suggested pay)
Graphic designer is a specialisation. And unfortunately the general pay for a graphic designer is actually less. But if you have transitioned to a UX/product role, try being there for a couple years, learn and make a switch. Only then will you get a decent hike.
Yeah. What is your current salary?
Hey Thanks
Trying to get it corrected in this Appraisal cycle!
I am a Product Designer with 1.5 yoe and I am getting 3LPA, and most of the time I am getting rejected in the HR rounds when I tell them my current salary. I just feel so stuck working for such a low price
My contract with my current organisation prohibits me from engaging in any freelance work. Also the work environment is very toxic, and I don't have any other job lined up , plus my boss wants me to sit 9-6 at the office and work only on office assignments and not indulge in any courses or anything to upskill myself. I want to quit but I don't know I think it'll be very very hard to sit without a job.
