With all the political noise right now and how unpredictable everything feels, I have had more than one person ask me, “What does this mean for us?” The honest answer is sometimes… I do not fully know. HR often sits in that space between not knowing and still needing to reassure. How do you handle that balance?

Same as I do when my kids ask me a question I don't know the answer to. I'm honest about not having all the answers. If someone thinks HR can make sense of whatever is going on in the Middle East, I've got some bad news for them.

I like the honesty here. I think people respect that more than forced reassurance. I would rather say I do not know than pretend I do and lose trust later.

I have no problem telling people that only time will tell. We don't have all the answers and there is so much uncertainty. I just try to be honest with people.

I agree, but I think just saying “time will tell” is not always enough. I feel like people still look to us for some sense of stability, even if we do not have the answers.
