He interviewed for a M role in

recruiter said it was all positive
feedback, just have to find out
where to put him (on the team he
interviewed for or another he is

Yes and no. Not all companies have HR departments so the office manager fills the role. Trust your gut instinct. There are good HR people and others are snakes, Trust your instincts. I feel the fact you are questioning it, means you know the answer to your question, and the answer is potentially no. If you do decide to build the work friendship, do not talk about anyone or situations at work. Keep conversations light.
I think you mean “grammar.” That little squiggly line should have clued you in that you had misspelled something.
I got fired from a very sweet role because HR was playing my friend and being a backstabber to my boss. They came together from a previous role. I should’ve know her loyalty was not on my side.
