Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

What’s DDB like these days?

Things are apparently going to get better after a client will be leaving, I’ll get to work on different brands but I am feeling pretty burnt out from the agency I’m at. Will new clients help? Or should I look elsewhere. Been at the agency almost 3 years, I feel like I need to switch things up for my sanity.

Want to establish quick, reactive line of creative idea comms with the client (for timely executions). Running things by accounts destroys the process. Either they become wannabe CDs or evil “clients” …with feedback that makes effort never ending, instead of putting the idea in front of the client. What can be done? CD is new to the agency and is trying to figure out the client relationship.

Anyone have book/podcast recommendations on creative leadership? Or on leadership/managing in general?

After all the wait, self-doubts, and emotional insecurities, I finally got an offer from the agency I’ve wanted!!! 😭

My coworker, who was my friend for a long time, has been lying to me, throwing me under the bus, and taking credit for my work and ideas. I have done more and worked harder than him but he was promoted. He failed a new client big time and I was asked to step in and save the relationship which I did in a big way. Why do I have to work so hard every day while he gets away with scraping by and plagiarizing? How do you deal with a coworker like that?

My book is just spec and side projects. I’m trying to get a new junior-to-mid role because I’ve gotten nothing good produced where I’m at, and I have zero faith this will change if I stick around.

I’m asked for work samples from recruiters and CDs even though I make clear that what I’ve done doesn’t reflect who I am as a creative. Think CRM/DM/B2B stuff. They insist on it, and I never hear back afterwards.

Not sure what to do. Almost feel like I’d be better off erasing my agency experience.

Any advice on how to deal with a partner that is extremely competitive and talkative? This person is trying to shine so hard that it makes it hard for me to co-lead our projects and meetings.

Art Directors. How protective are you of your references and resources? I have a folder with lot’s of textures, mockups that I’ve spent time building. I even paid for some of those assets. So I always get a lot of compliments on my comps and decks. Sometimes someone ask for my files and I really don’t want to since I put so much effort on that. But I also feel bad being gatekeeper of things.
