Worked in the Healthcare Culinary Field for a long time. Would like to transition back to hotels ,restaurants ND corporate dining but I am having a hard time finding a job.

I can't speak for the restaurants and hotels in your area, but around here you can't throw a rock in the business district without breaking a hotel or restaurant window. That said, unfortunately for would-be chefs there isn't much turnover. A good chef can keep working well into his 70s if he wants to -- and believe it or not, most want to. They don't do it for the money but for the sense of pride, artistry and -- yes -- power they possess in their role. Set your sights on a more junior role at an unpopular shift to get your foot back in the door. Once you show the restaurant manager you haven't lost your touch due to being in the healthcare field, you will see things improve. It probably won't be easy or quick, but the shear number of possibilities makes it possible.

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
