“It was used to incite violence”. Facebook as a corporation did not go to Burma and start the genocide. It was used by the lunatic government to plan the genocide. Facebook is a tool, it’s hard to control what it can directly impact. And I have friends from burma, it’s been a borderline civil war for decades, well before Facebook came into existence.
Big pharma is directly making products whose only purpose is harming communities and causing harm to people. Literally their intent.
Not saying Facebook is some great company or anything, I know nothing about them, but I know they’re main goal isn’t to get as much money as possible from sick people, just to make them more sick.
Yep, exactly as you describe. Very unstructured. If you find a very senior sponsor, that got aggressively being promoted her/himself you might get fast tracked. If not, then not. Also, you probably need to be flexible in terms of location
Oh and promotions in big pharma (and any non consulting/bank corporation) don‘t just come with the duration or bc it‘s deserved. Positions have a certain rank, and if you want to get a promotion you need to change jobs to a role which is at a D rank.

It’s all politics. Attach yourself to the right exec sponsors
What do you do right now if I may ask! Anything specific type of consulting?
I joined pharma a few years back as an AD. Was just promoted to D. Fully dependent on your reporting line to make it happen unless you job hop internally. I’d understand the norms in the department you are looking at and how many D’s they have currently.
How many years out are you?
Work at J&J - it’s a culture of musical chairs. People rotate frequently. Maybe at the director level there’s desire for more permanence but if you came in on a different side of the business, you can usually jump over to another side fairly easily. Have seen people rise fairly quickly up to the senior manager level. Can’t really speak any higher than that but just providing anecdotal experience.
