I've read her book, Divergent Mind, and like her take on this. There's potential danger to this bust that goes for everything 🤷🏻♀️
You’re joking right? Management will double-down, harass, denigrate and throw you out! They’ll see you as a legal risk even if you’re not.
What kind of company are you in?
Official diagnosis as an adult where I am requires supporting details from parents and siblings. My dad & older sister were dead, mom didn't have a clue (worked to support us), younger brother was fighting cancer, other siblings didn't answer. Basically a no go. Might have helped me, hard to say
It depends on how severe you think you may be and what you think getting the diagnosis would help you with. My husband may be on the spectrum and we suspect I may be as well, but we're both lucky enough to recognize our issues or have had help in the past to develop strategies that help us cope with our shortcomings (I. E. Names, etc). Of course, ADHD in the mix for for the entire family doesn't help.
I also suspect my daughter may be on the spectrum as well. She has some mild stims and gets somewhat obsessive with her likes but I basically have tried to explain things as they were explained to me as a kid, and that has helped.

No, don’t worry. I am going to look up those classes, and see if there’s anything. I read the book on “how to make friends and influence people”, but I don’t see a list of safe topics to talk about at work that is interesting to people. I think, I might learn better from books and texts.
I will look up executive decision coach and see what that is.
You are right, it is a time consuming process than involves multiple sessions and can span months. I’ve not undergone an adult assessment, but for teens it requires gathering teachers comments, report cards, etc. You need to sign consent forms so the person doing the assessment can speak to your mental health team and possibly the people who have performed any prior assessments.
Is it worth it? That depends on you and your circumstances. With some employers you will only get accommodations if you have a formal assessment. For some people knowing vs suspecting makes a difference. The last thing to consider is you wouldn’t just be evaluated for autism, you would get a full neuropsych evaluation, and it could turn up thinks to help with your medication (if you are taking any)
