Get out. The industry myth that you must be in LA is outdated. Your sanity matters more.
Figure out what your goals are and go from there. If you *have* to be in the city to get where you want to go, it’s something to think about. I got out because I had hit a wall living in the big city and not feeling like the pay justified it anymore.
If I had an opportunity before going there yes. If not, I don't know that I would want to try and find something in this job market. Best of luck to you.
I have the same thing for London! I would love to move by the coast but then further away from the film industry…
I did exactly that. Lived and worked in L.A. for 27 years. Working from home since 2020. I am in pre-production tho, so I'm not sure if it's as easy for production to work remotely. If you have connections, the work is generally still there when it's available, in my experience.
Totally get that dilemma, t’s a tough call. I think it depends on your long-term goals. If a slower pace and lower cost of living could give you room to breathe and work on your own projects, it might be worth it.
