My hospital has quite a few black employees and people in management positions so in my particular case I don't feel as though I'm being unfairly treated, however, I've heard of the horror stories of working in less diverse healthcare settings and I can say I'm grateful that's not my day to day.
I think it depends on location and the diversity of the facility. I work in a snf and I feel like i could write a book just on my short experience working in therapy departments
I mean, I worked in the food industry when I was a student and I would say, most people were pretty hostile. Its rare that I face that now, but maybe it dates back to an instinctual care giver - just kidding
My whole career has been in healthcare: payer, provider, and IT. Provider was the worst - hostile doctors. But my experience overall has been positive. Lots of growth and learning opportunities which I love.
I have worked in a few other industries, and I have found that healthcare is one of the most hostile environments for Black people.
