There's a bigger problem if you think your manager can't do anything about it. You should be able to discuss with your boss concerns about your work load and make adjustments together. If you can't have that type of conversation you have a bigger issue than burn out that won't be solved there.

Telling them you are burnt out is likely to come across as a negative. Try framing this in a positive way- "I've been working very hard on all my tasks and putting in extra hours, but I'm starting to get to the point where I'm worried that things may fall through the cracks with moving so fast. Is there anything we can do to prioritize the important tasks and maybe look to ways to reduce any tasks that are not generating revenue so that I can do the best possible job on the things that are moving the needle?" Helping put it in terms that matter to your manager is great. Sometimes with staff reductions, people end up taking on extra responsibilities that are meant to be short-term, but end up being long-term since you get them done efficiently. Good work begets more work, so often the best team members get piled up.

Do you think they are burned out too?
I think it depends - is it because you have too much on your plate and the workload is actually unfair - in which case they should definitely help you, or is it more of case of just too much going on in your life in which case maybe it's better to see what you can do yourself?
Yes for sure. I think you should be as honest as you can. Even if they can’t do anything, they should be sympathetic and supportive. Perhaps then something can be done later.
Only if they saw my performance dip, I wouldn’t just tell them out of the blue.

This is a tough one. I work in one of those jobs where if someone leaves, they just hand the work to someone else instead of hiring a replacement. So, when I explained that I was feeling overwhelmed, my boss stopped acting like my friend and treats me like a burden. Now, I just suck it up and act like I'm on top of everything until I find something new.
