I am a generalist/project manager.

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

Is there a market for lawyers to add expertise In crisis management or reputation management? My goal is to counsel clients (businesses or public figures) on how to respond to media inquiries without saying or posting something detrimental to a potential lawsuit while still maintaining communication with their client base. If so, how to break into that industry? Courses? Books? Certifications?

I had a client presentation today. In my head, I thought that I did really bad and I was really nervous while presenting. My self talk afterwards was all negative. I had recorded it and was even dreading going back and listening to how poorly I performed because I thought it would further destroy my confidence. But I decided to do it anyway and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought when I listened to it from a 3rd party perspective. Just thought I'd post this. (Contd)

Is anyone here running In-Stream Reserve video ads on Facebook? In-stream *auction* has been a top performer for us, and our Meta reps are pushing the client to commit $ to ISR bc “it’s premium inventory with locked in CPMs!” But it’s also managed service (ugh), which means an IO and no ability for our team to hands-on manage the campaign (what if something goes wrong? Our reps are hard enough to get a hold of in the best of times). Would love to hear from anyone who has tested it!

Any tips on handling a client that over explains things? I need him to understand data and some processes but every question turns into a 45 minute lecture full of digressions and too many details.

I recently started with Firm A (AM Top 200), and Firm B (AM Top 50) reached out for an interview. Given the potential pay with Firm B is significant (I’d say life-changing), I scheduled the interview. Should I disclose Firm A during the interview or wait and only disclose if Firm B makes an offer? Between now and the interview, I will not have completed any significant work for Firm A.

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

We’re looking to hire an internal content writer for website and social media content, and are looking for someone with 2-4 years experience. I’ve been reading back and forth if someone with this experience would already be considered “senior” versus “junior” versus mid/level? I’m not specifically looking for industry experience, as much as type of writing - blogs, SEO content for website enhancement, and social. We’re trying to the right title, plus it’d be remote full time.

I work in the interactive group at my agency. I had a chat with my CD today and said I’d like to move to another account soon. She asked what I’d want to do and I replied that I’d be happy on consumer goods, healthcare, banking, etc. She stopped me and said, no you need to decide if you want to be UX, a long form writer or other specialty. She said there’s no such thing as just being a “copywriter” any more. This sounds nuts to me. Is this an interactive thing? Have I been in this biz too long?

Is there a hierarchy with an AD and Copywriter? What is the real job of an art director? Should they be deciding what final copy is? I would think it would be the copywriter.
