Mix of student opinion as well as test scores but also the overall vibe in your classroom and if students trust you if you have helped foster a love of learning. Just my two cents!
I appreciate that advice!
First, it’s never a a parent opinion. Remember a parent is going to view school from their own personal experience if they like school and had a good experience they’ll be positive about it, but if they had anything negative in their past all they’re gonna do is look for fault and believe me they can find fault with the things. I had parents that gave too much they complained I didn’t give enough homework then they didn’t understand the homework and they complained it was too easy so you’ll never please them so forget about the parents they don’t matter have enough experience to judge a teacher. They think a teacher is nice if she smiles laughs and doesn’t give that’s not a teacher. The real proof will come years later when you’re a student in the supermarket or a parent in the park or something like that and they come up to you and they tell you what a huge difference you made in their life I’ve had parents come up to me and thank me for being strict and teaching their children, discipline and self motivation and independence because they were able to succeed when they got to high school in I’ve had students me later on about how I made them think for themselves and how I made them think outside the box and how everything was made to be real life experiences and not book experience and they learned so much so whatever happens in your classroom it’s end at the end of the year and you’re gonna go on the come till much later and ask for administration and principles and observation. They have one goal to make themselves look good so if you don’t make them look they don’t look good. They don’t like you so forget about them as well. You need to do what you need to do for yourself to make yourself happy and that’s the you out of that parking lot when you’re retire your name is wiped off the email list and you’re forgotten
Those are all great points. It is true we look at things from past experiences
This is a difficult question, especially since state testing make you look at your students and your work in terms of numbers. Like all things it is best to grade yourself based on concrete goals. For me when a former student comes back and say how helpful my class was, that is a success. I even had two very challenging, attitude, behavior, and defiance, students who just could pass my Algebra 2 class either times they took it came in years later to tell me that my class helped them pass their GED math...
Good points.
