How's the hike folks !!
Where did you all move to Toronto from?
JPMorgan Chase recently introduced a policy change to increase the notice period to 60 days. I'm a 602 and resigned recently and yet my LWD is showing up as 30 days from now. Anyone recently resigned can confirm if they are facing the same or new policy is in effect. This is causing confusion with the next companies I'm interviewing with.

I think I see why your firm can’t keep a legal assistant.
Why are you doing this? You are the attorney and the paralegal should be reporting to you and helping you do your job.
One would think…small firm with a paralegal who’s been with the managing partner forever. She’s been given too much authority I think
Ehh, time to move on. Management knows how abusive the senior paralegal is but doesn’t do anything about it. That’s why the others got run off.
Probably time to move on from the firm. It won’t get better.
As a former paralegal, former associate and boutique equity partner, my knee-jerk reaction is absolutely not. It is not acceptable for the paralegal to be berating you and threatening to fire you. This indicates that the paralegal and the managing attorney no longer know where the line is between attorney responsibilities (and liabilities) vs. paralegal duties. And no, I’m not talking about the snooty culture where certain work is “beneath” attorneys - I’m talking about the dangerous precedent where the paralegal feels entitled to order around an attorney, especially because this indicates that the paralegal feels entitled to disregard instructions from that attorney that they clearly don’t respect.
Law is toxic in so many ways. This shouldn’t be one of them. Find a new place to work.
It’s also dangerous because the paralegal apparently feels empowered to make statements or judgement calls that could bind the firm - and I doubt they have HR or legal training to know what they should or should not be doing. I question the legal judgment of the partners who are allowing this to happen.
This probably violates your jx’s rules of ethics. A non-lawyer cannot supervise a lawyer.
Please find a new job as soon as possible. I'm not sure which is more troubling; the paralegal's reckless behavior, or the manager's indifference.
And I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you are able to take good care of yourself while applying to other positions. I endured a similar situation once and thought I could just push through it for a few more months (for practical reasons). But I was wrong. Your health comes first and you will find something so much better. You got this!
Cont. my managing partner heard the yelling, and didn’t do anything. Just sat in his office. I’m confused and angry, and hate being talked to that way by anyone. Can anyone relate?
This is hilarious! She was monitoring your lunch time, then told you that you were on her shit list?? This like a comedy tv show! Run!
Time for a boundaries assessment

Dang. You need to find another job asap. I am always an advocate of treating support staff with respect but a paralegal should not have the authority to berate you or delegate you to legal assistant tasks.
I was in a similar situation two years ago. Get a new job asap.
You report to your head paralegal?
Steven, you're using your real name. Switch it, then comment.
Are you trolling us?
It's time to go. If she's not leaving, that means you will have to. I see why no one stays. There are so many red flags here but I don't see this situation getting better. I'm sorry this is happening to you.
