I understand we all come from different. Our communities are different and there are different needs. Given that, should there be minimum working conditions and minimum salary guidelines for the teaching profession? We’ve got standards we have to follow for the teaching profession. But we’ve got a hodgepodge of working conditions and salaries. What could possibly be a basic ask for this work?
How many teachers out here received a CARES stipend bonus last year from your district? If so do you recall the section of stimulus it was under. This stipend came directly from your district which is different then the federal funds.
What happens when you leave a district in the summer for a new one? How soon do you need to notify your old district? Are you able to hold on until about three weeks before school starts, to ensure salary and get most of insurance benefits?
Wow, just wow... Here I am thinking, "I'm finally going to hit a milestone in my paycheck" just to find out that my salary is going to be 4k less😡. Let's not forget I don't get paid for my master's degree. Now I need a pt. Job. Reinstate master's pay...
I’m just wondering, our district gave teachers here a $2000 bonus but after it was taxed, many of us only received $1300. Has that happened to anyone else?
Would you change districts - including a potential decrease in salary, along with a longer commute…to teach the grade level/position you want?
Did you and your district give a raise or salary increase from last year to this year or this year to next year? If so, how much? My district did not give a salary increase.
Any tips for negotiating a starting salary? I was just offered a principal position. I’m young, but I’ve been teaching 9 years. Honestly, I’m excited no matter the salary, but I don’t want to sell myself short.
The track for education administrators should be ten years of highly effective teaching in the classroom. Same pay scale as classroom teachers with bonus for extend duty and hours. No hires of administrators or staff without teacher input especially in the subject areas. Every school with a principal advisory committee composed parents, teachers, and counselors
I went from being a 20+ year teacher with no plans of retiring to a teacher who will be retiring ASAP. I have just under 200 sick days and maxed out the salary schedule my 10th year. I can make more money trading crypto than teaching. It’s not all about the money. It’s about this mask for all, vaccines for all and “new normal” for all. I won’t teach instrumental music in a mask or ask my students to practice or perform with masks in this new COVID19 Culture Cult. I’m done.
Opinion: What are the best cities [not necessarily states] to be a teacher? Looking at factors like salary, cost of living, activities for families, benefits, diversity, training, etc...
Re: Summer School Compensation NC Legislature has proposed 6-week summer programs to catch up from learning loss, but the bill specifically eliminates benefits like accruing time toward retirement, and appears to restrict pay rates so we would not earn the same daily rate as our normal teaching contracts. Trying to decide whether it's worth pursuing one of those positions and curious how other states handle summer school situations.
Hello fellow teachers, who is currently teaching both in-person and their online students? The online students are the ones whose family did not agree to return to in-person. If you are doing both, did your district offer you any compensation since you are having to teach two different ways? I only ask because our district is looking to return to in-person instruction next month and the teachers are given the option if they want to also keep their online kids.
Just broke up with my boyfriend of 6 years. I am staying with my mom but what do I do? What do people do when they break up with someone they lived with and they make a teacher salary? Rent is one of my two paychecks a month. How do I afford that? I don’t have friends I can ask to live with me. Do I live with my ex?
Is teaching the only profession where there is a HUGE discrepancy in salary and support based on WHERE your school is located?
Is anyone concerned about job loss and salary cuts for 2021-22 year? I’m unclear of why the district hasn’t saved some $ by placing district coordinators and vps with prop educ exp back into the classroom while this pandemic is occurring. I realize they would be taking a pay cut but when the 2021/22 year starts I don’t want to see districts cutting teachers. Most large school districts are top heavy anyway with4-5 vps in school sites in which we could do w/o not a necessity.
So, we just found out we're getting a 10k bonus this year for teaching during the pandemic..... April Fools!
Any other districts docking salary if you have to take a precautionary quarantine? (I.e: your child’s school closes due to a case)
How do people feel about federalizing education. This would put teachers on the GS pay scale where federal employees with a bachelor's degree would all have a minimum salary and federal benefits.

There is a huge number of questions and concerns about districts not worried for the health of the teachers, faculty, staff at their school. At what point do we get our unions involved? There hasn’t been a teacher strike in a long time. I would think this would be a legitimate reason. I’m an only child who cares for my elderly parents. Teacher salary, can’t afford to pay someone to do it during this time.
Does anyone use a science curriculum that they actually like? One with authentic learning, covers the necessary material, includes literacy components, where students are engaged, & there are scaffolding options built in? Bonus if it has a vertical alignment layout! I’ve asked every teacher I know across the US & this seems to be something that doesn’t exist. No one seems satisfied with their science curriculum. Question 2: what do you look for in a quality science curriculum? Non-negotiables?
Dumb Question: Do teachers get paid on the salary schedule they start the profession or is it based on the most current one?

I’ve been through 5+ weeks of interviews with a company that will IPO next year and they did a bait and switch on me with the offer: it was advertised as “Head of” and then during the offer-walk-through-meeting today they said “oh btw we changed the title to ‘Senior Manager’ for this role”. They offered me a salary I made 4 years ago as a manager. They offered stock options with an exercise price TBD 1 year from now…which is when they’re hitting IPO. Is that normal for stock options?
Recently laid off at mid-sized NYC real estate litigation firm (first year associate making $120k before cuts in April, then $112k). I was invited to interview at a small firm and asked salary requirements. Should I give a range or specific number?
This happened to my buddy and not me but it’s been bothering me: Our manager promised him a promotion and a salary bump back in March and claimed it would hit “early May” and obviously my friend was excited. but they just had a meeting yesterday where my manager claimed that he no longer feels my buddy is ready and is taking away the pay and promotion. When my buddy asked further questions my manager admitted that actually our holding company said no. Is my manager acting in an ethical manner?
BCG 🐠: How does total Partner compensation differ from total MD-Partner compensation? I understand Partner at BCG is “non-equity” but don’t know what that means in terms of terms of comp.

What do some people do to create multiple streams of income/passive income? I’m mid twenties but am seeing my friends and peers wealth grow exponentially quicker than mine despite myself having a higher salary. Any suggestions to grow wealth? I’ve tried my hand at investing but am sticking around a 10% growth (prior to losing almost my whole investment in GME today lol)
SC @ D and need to make moves, I am ~40% below the salary band (long story). I’ve been applying but keep getting shot down. Ego is a little bruised, don’t feel entitled to positions, but (continued)
Is it cheaper for a company to push employees (50) out of a department or to pay them all workers comp? I'm thinking push.
Got to the final round interview for roles at Google and LinkedIn but failed both. Anyone else struggling to get past final rounds due to the fact that consulting analysts are pretty much generalists and not specialized in anything? :/
So I had a Zoom presentation to a partner and a manager. The whole time the partner had a smirk on his face. Even the manager noticed. He didn’t understand why he was smirking and I said maybe
Not nearly enough messages. Was a senior when I had a kid...so nice of KPMG to NOT tell me the way to properly submit for parental leave back in the day.

What’s the freelance world in Asia like? Are freelancers in demand like the US? Or is it totally different over there? And how are remote freelance gigs these days?
Recently had my opinion shut down because “as a white male, I was coming from a position of privilege and could not possibly understand”. Excuse me? My skin pigmentation has more bearing than any life experience, education and past hardships and condemns me to being inherently incapable of ever being able to grasp certain concepts?
