What goes behind the cancellation of a tv show? I know low ratings may be one, but I am under the impression that really popular shows have suffered this fate as well.

So I was laid off back in mid April after 5 short months with a job that I absolutely loved. I’m applying to mid-senior level jobs and being told that I’m overqualified and should apply for VP level jobs. When I apply to VP level jobs I’m told those are hired internally. So, do I just lie on the resume to dumb it down?! Also- should I list the layoff in the resume and then in the ATS they have so it doesn’t look like I wasn’t just quitting after 5 months? Would like to have some tips on how to work with some of my Indian co-workers - observing this behavior predominately with them so suspect it is cultural- I tend to get last minute meeting invites (like 20 mins before) and the meeting room would be very empty so no conclusion can likely be reach. Then the colleagues would just drop this matter until he/she was probed to solve again.
