I’ll be in Paris tmrw. Does anyone know the times of the mtgs at the American Church? They have noontime (or noon-ish) mtgs during the weekdays. What about at night?

Yesterday I celebrated 8 years since the last time I had a sip of alcohol. Best decision I ever made. If you’re in the early days of sobriety, hang in there. It gets so much better!

Anyone know the NYC laws about taking time off to go to rehab? I need time off to go to treatment or at least focus on sobriety full-time, but don’t want to lose my job. Does FMLA cover this?

Got invited to drinks after work and I REALLY wanted to go. My personal life is in shambles and I’m dying for a friend.

I thinks it’s time to get off coke and booze. I am talking serious amounts.

How to start?

There was discussion before about how to deal with company drinks. Just say it out loud. “I’m an alcoholic.” I would be more proud of that than the cowardice I deal with daily to even stop.

Been sober a year & a half now and still hate the “oh, you don’t drink?” “Why don’t you drink?” questions.

What was it that finally made you go sober? I think I just had mine 😔

Think about how wound-up we must be, that we would put ourselves and those around us through all we have, in order to chase feeling relaxed.

AA meetings on or near campus?

I don’t struggle with alcoholism. I just have no interest in drinking, and therefore it seems I will NEVER have a social place at my agency. It drives me fucking crazy how obsessed they are with booze

Any meetings for ad people in la? I find no one really understands how we work in normal aa meetings. They find it suspect when I’m at work till 10pm every night for 3 weeks.

I’m very young and have been sober for nearly 3 years. Being in this industry is difficult because it’s frowned upon when you don’t drink. I’m having trouble connecting with anyone due this. Tips?

Tips for fighting urges: delay your decision. If you have the urge to drink, tell yourself, if I still want to get this drink in 1 or 2 hours, I’ll decide then. Has this worked for anyone? Other tips?

Anyone know of any solid outpatient programs that take insurance? Many that I’ve seen don’t. Looking for something that will help with my depression, borderline personality etc not just substance abus

Feeling Reflective about this past year. I’ve went through a lot of change and managed to stay sober and fairly serene through it all. Very grateful.
