If you’re in nyc, dm me. You’re near citi group if you’re at NYC publicis. A family member goes to citi group, works at pub and is in AA and former pothead. I can put you two in touch. Or we can just chat and I can tell you about my experience of early sobriety/when I stopped smoking pot
... self medicating with weed to escape and accept circumstancial things, loneliness and loss. It's not casual or moderate use and it's taken its toll. I'm over it. Now two weeks in on abstaining from getting high and so far it's been a nightmare. I can't sleep, I'm not hungry, I'm irritable, I'm less motivated now than when I was smoking 5 times a day - and my work is suffering. I'm praying this withdrawal ends soon. I can't help but feel like my current struggle is trivial compared to many of the folks I've met and have heard speak in the rooms over the years. I'm not in rooms now... and I have a mental block about going to NA for weed. That said... I've never been to a NA meeting. I don't know what to do.
Hang in there OP. You are doing amazing. Keep reaching out. Be gentle with yourself and don’t compare yourself to others—your struggle is yours and it’s not trivial. ❤️
hang in there OP. and I'll echo what SA says above: I'm in NYC and always happy to chat.
have you found something else to substitute? I found that by channelling my energies into something else (writing, comic books, sports, running, cycling etc) it helped retrain my mind. the cravings and feelings of restlessness didn't go away, but they were much more controllable. instead of going for a drink, I'd go for a run, or head down to the comic store.
every situation is different of course, but if you can find some things to help retrain your brain, it will likely help.
