My interview with Microsoft for SE2 was scheduled and cancelled a day before. Neither I received any email regarding cancellation nor the recruiter informed me. Two days later I got an email saying Microsoft is freezing hiring for certain departments and the recruiter is ghosting me. Will I even get a chance to interview atleast?

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

In house interview- I am going to hopefully the final round of interview to meet the whole legal team. I was asked about my availability, and it will take 5 hours if in one day. Should I split to multiple days? Will it cause any issues? Anyone on both sides can speak from their experience? Thanks!

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? The strategy boutique I'm working at requires all staff to sign a strict universal no-trading policy covering all publicly traded securities - is this common practice in the industry and is there any way for me to engage in trading stocks [tbc. mutual funds are still a-ok]? UK-based fwiw.

I really like my firm and role here but working from home has made it difficult to stay engaged. Also, it doesn’t help that I’m constantly working on reports when I’d rather be doing more client facing projects. I already made some adjustments in order to stay active (upgrade my set up, exercise before I start work, take constructive breaks.) Does anyone have more tips on how to stay motivated while working from home?
