I’m the guy that got laid off the day I came back from vacation. A month later, I just got a job offer at a way better agency. Sometimes it works out, folks. Stay hopeful.

I absolutely love the sheer pettiness of recruiters. When they ignore/ghost us and we say something about it then we’re being unreasonable but when they reach out for a role with some forced overly nice message and I politely tell them I’m not interested then they immediately turn sour and all the niceties are immediately out the window. Yea ok. Suck it

Are there any finance people that can say how layoffs really work? If it’s not performance based is that another way of saying you are still the lowest value employee based on, well, performance?

I was recently put on a 30day plan, busted my ass on it and was let go during covid. I’m beyond hurt and I feel very targeted and it never felt fair. What else could I do? I’m embarrassed and I recently came across one of the women who never liked me on social media and all the feels felt fresh again.

How do you guys deal with burnout? This job was amazing when I started and the pay is good, but I feel like I’m being ground down a little more every day. I’ve been applying to AE jobs elsewhere but I’m competing with everyone who’s been laid off at this point I’m happy to get a rejection instead of being ghosted by the hiring manager. Any tips on getting out of this mindset? I feel trapped.

I am looking to get into Project Management for homes/commercial. I am young but have many years of management experience already. Started a new job and first month I did really well. Some of my installs didn’t go in, but them be the runs. I’m at about half of what I did last month now with the remainder of the month left, so I’ll probably be close to what I did last month, but I am starting to feel like I’m being “put on the program” by management and colleagues. I already had my doubts about this place before I signed the offer letter; do I stick it out or run?

I'm looking for learning material or certification recommendations for executive level HR metrics. I have held Sr roles with the ability to communicate out meaningful metrics but am facing a new level of HR need at my company and want to be able to identify and calculate metrics for our CEO and other Executives such as an Efficiency ROI per department based on revenue and profit margin. I looked at AIHR but I would like community feedback on any programs or certs that would help with this.

Thinking about some of the old perks of Old Advertising, that we just thought of as normal. Today’s walks down memory lane: magazine subscriptions. If you knew somebody in the media dept (what’s that? Oh right sorry, the media dept was a part of the agency then), one phone call from them got you any magazine you wanted, free, forever.

I know right, so many questions. Whats a magazine? Whats a phone call?

At a M7 (or top 10), whatever floats your boat. Have successfully finished my qualifiers. I know my goal is industry and I’m starting dissertation proposal stuff now (will take around 1.5-2 years to complete), should I opt for a Master’s and start working now? Should I get the PhD? Let’s look at this from a strictly career perspective. My goal is to come back to consulting.

So as much as I embrace the tenets of socialism, I have to admit: I'm not a part of a union. I don't know of any programmer's union and I don't know where to start if I want to organize in my own company.

If anyone has any pointers, I'd love some guidance. Also guidance in convincing my coworkers to organize, which might be a hard sell because most of us are pretty happy with our working conditions and pay as far as I can tell.

Deloitte New Member makes me want to apply to Deloitte.
