2L with no summer position I've applied to many positions and to no avail. Most of my applications remained in review for over 4 months before being rejected while many are still in review and have been for months. Anyone had a similar experience and can share some advice? Any light at the end of the tunnel?

I'd start networking. Sometimes it is about 'who you know'. If you haven't done so already try looking into nonprofit or social justice law firms. I know several people who have worked at firms like that first as an intern, then law grad, now are staff attorneys. It May be a process, but persistence leads to perseverance. Suppose you can also look into smaller independent law offices too.

I didn’t land a 2L summer associate position (this was summer 2020) and still got a first year associate position in big law. You have to network.

Anybody working here at CS from third party payroll?

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

EY folks, where do you go to see the engagements you are scheduled on, team you are on, overall schedule and team members etc. I know retain is used, but I cannot seem to log in. How do you get to scheduling ?

I was told to apply to a hospital job by someone interested in interviewing me. The recruiter reached out. Asked for my availability but then didn’t respond when I gave her my availability. I followed up. We scheduled a phone call (she said she’d call) and then she didn’t call! At this point, I’m thinking they’re totally disorganized. Is this common practice? I’ve never dealt with a recruiter so I don’t know.

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?
