3 years ago was recruited away from D to a PE portfolio company to run M&A and other strategy work. Things have gone well and company is prepping for exit. Thinking about going back to consulting after exit: what options are out there? I left D as an M and would only consider returning as “senior” SM or higher. Who else is hiring at higher levels in M&A? What does starting comp look like for SM (or equivalent) role?

I know way too many tech people who work maybe an hour a day followed by errands and traveling. A lot of getting in these places is who you know, apparently that doesn’t work out like it used to. The amount of people who worked for Meta, Apple, Amazon, etc for a few months / maybe a year is astounding. it’s around that time frame a boss can tell if you’re worth it

I have 32k miles with THY that are about to expire. Normally I'd go ahead and book a flight, but I can't project which countries might be locked down again 5-6 months from now (haven't accrued enough PTO to travel in near future). I started working as a consultant with EY 8 months ago. Even though I'm content and learning a lot there, I think there are places where I might easily earn more money. I received a job offer last week from Alvarez & Marsal to work as a consultant at the Transaction Advisory Department (financial due diligence team), where I will be paid more fairly (salary & bonus). Should I accept it? Or would leaving EY that early not be wise?

How difficult is it to move between Big 4 M&A Deals Practices (i.e. PwC->EY, KPMG->Deloitte etc.) and when is the best time—financially and otherwise—to make a move post MBA?
