lol thank you! Honestly if it wasn’t so organic and unexpected it wouldn’t have hit me as hard. They aren’t old enough to really understand but they can kind of know it’s a big deal and I think watching me hobble and seeing my horrific toes makes an impression.
I routinely see my toddler repeating sentiments to me that I express to her, in fairly correct contexts. That runs the gamut from "you're so sweet mama" to "stop it right now." Makes me try to think hard about my words to her.
I'd imagine that you've said this to him enough times that he's now reciprocating because he's learned from you. Cheers!

Haha I taught my 2.5 year old about consent (age appropriately) and we have this book that says that saying STOP is your superpower. Specifically, holding your hand up and saying “stop go away”. I thought we had a great book reading sesh until the next day when he had a tantrum because I took something away for safety and he holds his hand up and goes “STOP go away”. That backfired.
He still does it a few months later and I have to say ‘if you say stop, mommy will always listen. Unless I need to keep you safe’.

My 2.5 year old son randomly kisses me or pats my cheek when I’m doing bedtime and it tells me maybe big picture I’m doing an ok job. It’s the best.

Great job on being both a great dad and a marathoner. Huge congrats to you and your sons, who love you and are proud of you, as we all are ❤️ I think anyone who runs a marathon is superhuman. I think the same about being a good parent. Keep it up 👍🏻
