34, just hit $600k. Came to US, 5 years back - investing and saving has helped reach till here. My goal was to always to reach $1M and i feel I can be there by 2027-2028. I make $210k per year, single. Happy and wanted to share with the group.

Congrats! Keep up the good work, live on less than you make, invest the difference in index funds, and go live your life while the wealth grows

Markets might not go up every single year but if you look at the past 100 years it’s up avg of like 8-10%.

Recessions usually last 10-24 months (plus you buy at a discount) so I wouldn’t be worried about market performance, it will be there. The biggest race is against time.

You can make it to $1M IF the markets go up.

Congrats! Same age but only half of your assets. I need to push myself to invest more and cash less…

Wow that is amazing at your age! Good for you! You should absolutely be thrilled about it.

That’s an incredible achievement — truly something to be proud of, especially in just five years. It’s not easy to come to a new country and build that kind of foundation so quickly. I’m curious though — beyond the number, what does reaching that milestone represent for you? I’ve been reflecting on that myself after reading The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel — it really changed how I think about what wealth means and what it’s for. For me, it’s about safety, education, and the freedom to pay it forward.

By the way, I’m an immigrant myself. I came to this country with nothing — not even a winter coat. My first job was cleaning a family’s house and caring for their kids when I was very young. Over time, I was able to pay for my education while raising a family. I’m in my early 40s now, and with no little ones at home, I’m finally building a career beyond where I started. I loved being a parent, but after working since I was eight years old and always doing for others, I guess this is my ‘selfish’ phase — a time to see what I can create for myself. Maybe I’ll grow out of it by the time the grandkids arrive in ten or fifteen years.

That’s so amazing!! Congratulations 🎉!

Hey all! I’m 30 years old. About to close on a house with a 5.75% fixed 30 yr mortgage. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market? The 5.75% doesn’t feel that low but also not crazy high so I’m torn. Thoughts? 🙏
