Have 50k in brokerage to put towards buying a place in Atlanta. Young 20 something who's lease is ending soon

Roth IRA and 401k are well funded but don't want to pull from there.

Should I buy and rent the extra bedrooms to friends, or stay renting and put savings in stock market?

I say if you can, buy the asset. Signs of economic downturn ahead, and metro Atlanta housing will continue to be competitive with so many tech companies moving to midtown

likefunny

Answer is almost always buy if you’re not in ultra HCOL place.

With mortgage rates where they are, keep renting.

While rates have increased, they’re expected to continue to rise for the next 12 months, so they’re cheaper now than they might be for the foreseeable future.

Lots of up and coming places to buy in atlanta.

where would you recommend around ATL? What are your hot takes

Any savings beyond the brokerage?

How much is at least 1 year old (and thus subject to LT Cap Gains)?

Leave anything less than a year in there. Not worth pulling it out

Don’t invest money you need in the next year or two

Do you really want to live with others ? No plan to get married in 5 years?

Me too i dont wana get married and i live alone- kinda want a bigger place to live with others too!

Where in atlanta are you looking?

Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?

Hi Fishes,
I had a technical discussion for HCL on 3rd Oct. It's been more than a week. I still haven't received a status on that interview. I have also received a "Resume shortlisted" mail from their careers app after a week.
Does it mean I'm selected? There's no intimation of the status at all. The HR don't reply on mails/calls.
Can anybody advise on this of they been through the same.
