4/5 interviews went really well (including HM). Not sure about the last one with GC and was hard to read. Recruiter reached out after to discuss comp expectations, start date, and asked for references. 1. Do companies call references prior to making an offer? 2. Does the fact that the recruiter asked for all the above information likely mean I will get an offer?

It’s a good sign.

I have had references called, and it does happen before an offer is extended.

like

Very good sign, I’d optimistically expect you get an offer.

They might wait to call references until after an offer is made and because normally an offer is contingent on a background check which typically includes bar status, employment verification, criminal history and reference checks.

Lately, I’ve been having candidates hired with no reference checks even if references were asked for.

Hi Fishes,
I've been offered for Engineering expert position at Novartis India. I've received offer letter 2 weeks back and my DOJ is updated to Mid December. I told the HR that my current company's last working day is on mid January and resend the offer letter with mid Jan as my DOJ. But they told that they can send the revised offer letter 3 weeks before the joining date.
Is this normal process? Has anyone gone through similar experience?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate.
