7th Litigation associate at an Am Law 200 firm. Burnt out and tired of billing hours. Have always thought I could do well in PI (I’m an extrovert, did some defense work in my first two years of practice, have a lot of in court experience) and recently applied for a job at a small shop in town. Only 2 attorneys currently, the settled/got verdicts totaling $10m in 2025. Wondering if it’s worth the risk to pivot at this point…

I have given interview in LTI on October 8 and I have cleared all rounds L1 L2 and HR . I got documents submission mail on oct 10 after a week on 19th i got a mail with the subject of application status update saying i have cleared all rounds But still i didn't offer letter . Does anyone if there is anything legally a company can do to you if you don’t provide a two weeks notice when quitting? I’ve heard corporate talking about charging people for leaving without proper notice but this doesn’t sound legal.

Pros/cons of having both a manager and senior manager on a job?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.

How does one deal with an incompetent paralegal? I am gracious to all paralegals because it’s not an easy job either but there is one in particular who is driving me up a wall. It’s literally taking me more time to explain to her how to do basic tasks that I end up doing it myself.

I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?

Constantly worried I’m going to get fired because I don’t know where I stand at my mid sized law firm (second year associate).

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Why am I taking the (honestly justified) blame for this? Surely it should be obvious that I’m just the messenger here.
