Is Google the end game?
Anyone at Google open to networking? My new role (haven’t started yet) is senior and I want to start building my network in advance so I don’t feel so lost and alone at such a big company when I join!! I love getting to know people! If you’re open to getting to know a Noogler and be part of my network/support system, I’d really love to chat and learn about you/what you do/where your group fits into the big picture. Google DM me :) 🙏🏻

Yes
Yes. The idea of “down level” isn’t a thing. It’s just your perception. You came in at the level the hiring committee deemed appropriate for you. You’re now starting at ground zero at that level.
I’m sure it’s not about my interview performance. I can tell you more if you’re interested.
Down leveling is absolutely a thing ^ many roles are scoped across levels (e.g. L4/L5) and there is a bias to hire at the lower level
Truth. I was downleveled at hiring a few years back and most of the directors I talked with in my org acknowledged it was a thing. There is a case currently in the settlement phase on the practice.
My thinking is they want you to work harder at a premium and even more so if you want to get promoted.
Cooked for a few years plus domino effect. But hey, im learning that more money isn’t always everything
Think about it this way - the 3 YOE got you to Google! Down leveling is definitely a thing here. The way my recruiter sold it to me nearly 6 years ago was: they would rather you excel then promo to the next level than start you at a higher band and see you fail. 🥲
Yes. Don't expect promo within 3 years.
